A leaking toilet, broken window and other things should be done right away before they cause more damage.

If you try to do your taxes yourself, you might end up missing some deductions which means not getting as much back at the end of the year. Get insurance. You can't get a mortgage loan unless you have insurance on your home. Many times you can roll this payment into your mortgage payment. But you should also consider a good life insurance policy that will help pay off the home in case you become disabled or if you pass away.
